Koios platform is committed to protecting your privacy. We have prepared this Privacy Policy to describe our practices regarding the information we collect from users of our mobile application entitled "Koios".

1. Purpose of Koios
   

   Different research organizations collect smartphone sensor data (e.g., accelerometer) to understand or analyze the well being of a person. The Koios platform provides a generic tool where the research organization can configure the study requirement and collect sensor data.

2. How Koios works
   

   The first step to being a part of a research study is to register in the mobile app "Koios." A unique identifier is assigned to your device, and we use that identifier to anonymize all of your data. The app does not collect any data if you do not join to any study. The research organization will contact you, and they will obtain consent from you. We will add you to the data collection project based on the proof of your consent sent to the research team. You can join to the multiple studies at a time.

3. What data we collect
   The mobile app "Koios" collects three types of data using different approaches.
   1. Sensor Data: The app can collect different kinds of sensor data. It depends on the research configuration what data will be collected and in what frequency. Following are the list of sensors that can be configured to activate on your app:
      • - GPS (location)
      • - Accelerometer
      • - Magnetometer
      • - Altimeter
      • - Battery
      • - Network Data
      • - Device Events (e.g., screen lock/unlock)
   2. Ping Data: If you are part of a study then it is required to know whether the app is running correctly. Therefore, it sends a ping to the server in a certain interval (1 hour) with the following information:
      • - Device Type (Android/iOS)
      • - Device OS version
      • - Network Info (Wi-Fi/Cellular)
   3. Profile Information: The app stores your profile information like name, age, ethnicity, education, etc. which are relevant to research studies. If you are not willing to share the information you can skip at the registration. Also, you can update the information later in the settings.
